Iowa Republican lawmakers approved a bill to protect an ‘unborn person.’
The bill changes the language in current Iowa unborn person to create penalties for the termination of a human pregnancy. The new language reads “causing death of, or serious injury to, an unborn person.” The bill defines unborn person as “an individual organism from fertilization to birth.”
The bill would still need to pass the State Senate and be signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds to become law.
