In "Edge of Tomorrow," Emily Blunt plays Sergeant Rita Vrataski, a sword-wielding hero adept at taking out aliens. While she may have made taking out her extraterrestrial enemies look simple on screen, it was no easy ordeal to pull off. One intriguing incident resulted in a tear-inducing moment that actually had a much bigger relevance than the actress could have known. "Basically, I tried to slash my sword through the air, and it got caught on one of the wires, and I ended up hitting myself in the face with the butt of it. My eyes were streaming tears," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "But then Tom [Cruise] came into the makeup bus after it happened, and he was like, 'Yeah! First stunt injury!' He high-fived me as if it was my initiation. I was in the club."
Undoubtedly, Cruise knows the realm of stunt work pretty well, and that wasn't the only time he helped Blunt get through some of the rougher times on the set of "Edge of Tomorrow." On the "Smartless" podcast, Blunt revealed Cruise had a hilarious response to her nervously tearing up amid panic she couldn't get through the production. "He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, 'Come on, stop being such a p—-, okay?'"
Cruise and Blunt were a solid team on "Edge of Tomorrow," and it's really a shame there are a number of reasons that a sequel will likely never happen.
