Three NFL Draft picks to be announced in Rock Island

The 2019 NFL Draft is coming to Rock Island — for three picks of the sixth round.

Rock Island Parks and Recreation Special Events and Fundraising Manager Dan Gleason confirmed to Local 4 News that the picks will be announced April 27 from the Ken Anderson Academic All-American Club at Augustana College’s Lindberg Stadium.

The NFL is honoring historic cities during this year’s draft, and these selections will pay tribute to the Rock Island Independents and their roots in Douglas Park. 

The first game involving an NFL team was played there.

There will also be a Punt, Pass & Kick competition for kids and the vintage 1920s players will play a game at Augustana as part of the festivities.
