A recent report from the Illinois Economic Policy Institute and University of Illinois indicates the number of union petitions increased from 2021 to 2022, and so did the success rate of the petitions.
On the flip side, the number of people joining unions dropped over the past 10 years. Despite the gradual drop in union membership in Illinois, the state’s numbers are higher than the national average.
