Gator may be a wonderful cook, but there's just one small problem: No one's biting into what he's painstakingly making. In a Reddit discussion about "Yellowstone" Season 4, Episode 3, multiple fans pointed out that once again, the poor guy's elaborate meal is largely treated as set dressing, instead of actual sustenance for the characters. "Can someone eat what Gater [sic] makes? Please? He goes through all that trouble every day," one redditor wrote. "The ranch might turn a profit if they didn't make Gator cook a full buffet for 3 people every meal," another agreed.
One person, who said to be a cook themselves, felt that the characters' disregard of Gator's food is outright tragic. "RIGHT!?? As a cook, it makes me so sad whenever they don't eat what he makes! Like, do you understand the trouble he went through!?? At least send it down to the bunkhouse!" they opined.
Some fans think that Gator might find his cooking more appreciated in the household of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). After all, their recent dinner scenes have showed an actual appetite for food, in no small part thanks to the arrival of series newcomer Carter (Finn Little). "Maybe he should go to Rip/Beth's house," one redditor recommends.
Luckily, Gator gets plenty of appreciation behind the scenes (per Outsider). When he's not in front of the camera, Gabriel "Gator" Guilbeau is the very real chef for the production, and the food he makes for the cast and crew is reportedly at least as wonderful as the dishes the Duttons get. "Anybody on the crew, anybody in the cast, can't talk about this show for five minutes without mentioning Gator," Jefferson White (who plays Jimmy Hudstrom) revealed.
