An animal rights group is offering a reward for information on the Rock Island Livestock Auction Barn fire last weekend.
PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of a cow that died in what authorities believe was an intentional fire. There were about 23 other cows that were confined to the barn; one escaped and the others were moved by firefighters and employees to pens farther from the flames.
“A helpless, terrified cow burned to death inside a barn, unable to escape the flames surrounding him,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges anyone with information to come forward immediately before his killer harms anyone else.”
