+ East Moline’s school district is hosting a town hall meeting on school funding at 6 p.m. at Glenview Middle School. United Township Supt. Jay Morrow says schools are waiting on the funding formula bill that is stalled in the Illinois Senate. He says UT can survive only one year on their reserves. Details.
+ Davenport city council appointed Gene Meeker as the new sixth ward alderman last night, taking over for Jeff Justin. It also voted on the final changes for the levee commission. Now, each council member will select a member for the commission, instead of the mayor appointing them. The mayor will also no longer serve as the chair.
+ Today, 800 children enrolled in QCA summer camps will take part in National Summer Learning Day. The “Stepping Up for Summer Learning” event is at the iWireless center from 10 a.m. until noon. Details.
