Burglars keep breaking into Davenport businesses.
It’s happening downtown, along Brady Street and Kimberly Road.
Davenport police officers are working to get a city-wide burglary problem under control — but the burglars don’t seem to be slowing down.
Two Davenport businesses were targeted overnight: Green Thumbers and Griggs Music on North Brady street.
It’s part of what Davenport police are calling a recent up-tick of incidents.
There have now been at least a dozen burglary hits in Davenport just this month.
About 10 busineses have been targeted so far, ranging from small local businesses to corporate storefronts.
In the last few weeks police say businesses and vehicles in Davenport seem to be the main targets.
Green Thumbers now joins that list of stores hit by recent burglaries in the area.
Criminals broke a window in the greenhouse. They emptied out all of the meat and drinks from the cooler. The burglars also stole cell phones, a laptop and a truck.
Green Thumbers president Andy Kay said he’s not shocked his store was broken in to.
“I mean you don’t recuperate it,” said Kay. “Again, that’s part of being in the business unfortunately is we deal with theft and deal with burglary. I hate to say it’s part of the business but it is something we have to deal with.”
Things were back in order at Green Thumbers before business hours Tuesday morning. Other businesses targeted this month included Wide River Winery and Boost Mobile.
