A fight outside a Davenport bar went viral on Facebook and this isn’t the first time there’s been violence around the business.
Police say security told Pharris Rogers to leave the Dam View Inn twice early Sunday morning. Then he got into fight with security behind the building where police put Rogers in handcuffs.
Officers also arrested Keishonna King and Davian Thomas. Police say Thomas hit an officer. Each faces several charges related to the incident.
“I hear some screaming. I pulled my phone out and put it on Facebook Live right away and caught the action,” said Andy Rodriguez, who was near Dam View when the fight broke out. “It resulted to chaos.”
It’s not the first act of violence near the bar. Last fall Local 4 News was on the scene as police investigated a fatal shooting near Dam View. A spokesperson for Davenport police says while the area has had a reputation in the past, now they don’t typically have issues.
“It’s just an unfortunate accident that happens sometimes running a bar, owning a bar. It’s sad but that’s what happens sometimes,” said Ruben Garcia, who owns Ruby’s just around the corner from Dam View.
He said it’s not a problem the bar needs to handle, but the whole city.
“As a downtown area bar owner, we’re trying to build up the neighborhood. We’re trying to get some good vibes going,” Garcia said. “Stuff like that just sets it back, but I have faith in the city.”
The manager of Dam View Inn says they’ve worked with the police department to create a security plan. For several months now they’ve had one to two Davenport police officers at the bar on Fridays and Saturdays. They also have their own security.
She thinks that’s why the fight didn’t get any worse.
